LAA’s Matt Braynard Statement on 2nd Anniversary of January 6th

Washington, D.C. – Look Ahead America (LAA)’s Executive Director Matt Braynard made the following statement on the second anniversary of January 6th.

Two years ago today, our federal government, in cooperation with state-aligned media and American-last politicians, made the decision to politically persecute hundreds of innocent Americans as “domestic terrorists” in order to construct a false narrative of an “insurrection.”

This false narrative was weaponized against patriots across the country whether they were serving in our military or speaking out at school board meetings, or had ever asked aloud if election integrity could be improved.

As of today, 933 Americans have been arrested for participating in the protests at the U.S. Capital on January 6th, and the FBI has the goal of arresting an additional 1,000.

Our organization condemns all political violence in our great nation, and insists on fair and speedy justice for all those who committed violence on that day.

And yet nearly everyone arrested is facing charges of nonviolence that would have resulted in same-day release and a $50 fine during previous disruptive protests at the US Capital.

Nobody has been charged with the felony of “insurrection,” and, despite our nation’s top law enforcement officer lying as recently as yesterday about police officers killed as a result of January 6th, nobody has been charged with murder, homicide, manslaughter, or anything related to the death of any officer.

Despite two years passing, of the nearly 1,000 arrested so far, only 349 have had their cases resolved. There are forty-four serving in prison, including nine individuals who were not convicted of any violent acts.

There are sixty-five sitting in prison now in pre-trial detention, including ten who have been charged with nonviolent offenses. All in a country where murders, attempted murders, and truly violent criminals with long wrap sheets are granted bail.

Among those charged were three patriots who were driven to suicide, none of whom were charged with violence: Matthew Perna, Mark Roderick Aungst, and Chris Stanton Georgia.

And we cannot forget the deaths of Ashli Babbitt and Rosanne Boyland at the hands of Capital and DC Police officers – deaths that have received no public investigation or accountability.

But as long as Look Ahead America exists, we will not let this ongoing crime against our fellow citizens be forgotten or ignored.

We’ve been leading this fight since January of 2021. We’ve held over seventy rallies and vigils all over the country. We’ve held federal candidates accountable to take action. We’ve published a podcast series documenting the treatment of these individuals. We’ve built the most comprehensive database of those arrested. And we’ve launched a jobs program to help those who’ve served time and lost their livelihood to reenter society and regain their personal dignity.

And thanks to our advocacy, public opinion now agrees with us. New members of Congress, including Mike Collins of Georgia who spoke at our rally at the US Capital, will demand due process and transparency from the Biden Justice Department, the FBI, and the US Capital Police.

And we will continue to shine the spotlight on the mistreatment of these prisoners and the unfair, un-American treatment of them by the justice system, elected officials, and the media.

Two years ago, our justice system was weaponized against law-abiding Americans to further a great “insurrection” lie. Look Ahead America will not rest until the truth of that day and our government’s actions are exposed and names of those victimized by it are restored.

America First, America Forever.
