LAA’s Matt Braynard Responds to Dismissal of Appeal

Washington, D.C. – In response to Look Ahead America (LAA) withdrawing its appeal of Virginia AG Jason Miyares’ cease and desist order, LAA Executive Director Matt Braynard made the following statement:

We’re disappointed that we cannot afford to challenge a deranged attorney general with no respect for the First Amendment because we’re a small nonprofit and he has an unlimited budget.

I’m also disappointed that civil rights organizations that typically stand up for the First Amendment didn’t help us because we are a perceived as a conservative organization and that right-leaning advocates didn’t help us because the attorney general has an “R” next to his name.

Nonetheless, we were successful in turning out to vote 50% of our targets by both helping them return their ballots and by being honest about the consequences of not voting. We look forward to returning with these same tactics in 2024 even if the AG again threatens to put me in prison for telling the truth to voters.
